Operation Jump-Start
Free Small Business Training Course Offered in Piedmont
Are you ready to be part of an elite group of entrepreneurs who are realizing their dreams of small business ownership? Do you want to Jump-Start an idea or give your current business that needed boost? If so, you can't afford to miss the free training opportunity coming to Piedmont, MO starting Tuesday, March 3, 2009
The 6-week course, called Operation Jump-Start, is a nationally-recognized, highly successful training model delivered to individuals considering starting or expanding a small business. The Operation Jump-Start program teaches participants essential business planning and preparation skills with non-academic, practical training. The course allows individuals to compete for small start-up grants (up to $3,000.00) after completing the training and submitting a viable feasibility plan for a committee's review. Participation in the course does not guarantee start-up grant funding.
The course, which will be held at the Piedmont City Hall, is sponsored by the Southeast Innovation Center, located on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. The Innovation Center has been recognized in rural America as the #1 deliverer of this entrepreneurial curriculum. The Jump-Start model consistently produces businesses that are still in operation at an astounding rate of 95% after two years. The entrepreneurial program has been instrumental in assisting about 600 individuals who have started or expanded over 200 small businesses; several recently in Carter, Butler, and Reynolds counties. Your business in Wayne County could be next!
The course, currently offered at no charge to participants, is made possible through grants offered by the Delta Regional Authority (DRA). The delta Regional Authority works to improve life for the residents of 240 counties and parishes in parts of eight states in the lower Mississippi Delta.
The 6-week course will be offered Wednesday and Thursday nights, from 6 - 9 pm for 6-weeks, starting March 18th. If you can attend all sessions and are ready to Jump-Start your business, please contact Gina Harper at 573-651-2940 or email gharper@semo.edu by February 20, 2009 to receive an application
