Starting a Small Business: The First Steps
The Small Business Development Center of Southeast Missouri State University is teaching a course, "Starting a Small Business: The First Steps" two times in February 2009. Dates and times for the class are Thursday, February 12th from 6 pm to 9 pm at City Hall in Bonne Terre; and on Thursday, February 19th from 6 pm to 9 pm at Clearwater High School in Piedmont. The instructor for the class is Russell Humphrey, a business consultant with the Small Business Development Center of Southeast Missouri State University.
Because this class is funded through government grants, the class and materials are offered at no charge, however preregistration is required. Please call 573-986-6084 for application information.

This three-hour offering will provide you with an overview of the critical first steps associated with starting a business. It is specifically designed for people who are thinking about starting or buying a business.
Participants will assess their strengths and weaknesses in terms of business ownership, learn about the importance of planning, discuss legal and regulatory requirements and identify sources of funding.
